Laser Refractive Surgery
LASIK eye surgery is a procedure that corrects certain vision problems, reducing or eliminating the need for eyeglasses or corrective lenses. LASIK eye surgery is the most common type of refractive surgery. Refractive surgery changes the shape of the cornea-the dome-shaped tissue at the front of the eye. The desired result of LASIK eye surgery is to refract light rays to focus more precisely on your retina. For your convenience, Dr. Goldban performs all laser Lasik with the Allegretto Wavefront Laser and the Ziemer Femtosecond.
PRK- Photorefractive Keratectomy
PRK is a procedure effective in treating low to moderate degree of nearsightedness and astigmatism. PRK is technically easier to perform because there is no corneal flap created. The surgeon simply wipes away a portion of the cornea’s surface cells, and uses the Allegratto Laser to vaporize away microscopic amounts of the cornea tissue. By modifying the shape of the cornea, light rays are allowed to focus correctly on the retina to provide clear vision.
